After scoring in Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Friday, Taiwo Awoniyi broke the previous record for Nigerian players in the Premier League.
In the fourth minute of the frenetic game, the 22-year-old headed Sergier Aurier’s cross into the goal.
In Forest’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal last weekend, the former Union Berlin attacker also scored.
Awoniyi has now scored in six straight Premier League games, making him the first Nigerian to do so.
When Nottingham Forest plays Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, August 26, the striker will now try to become the third African player to score in seven straight games.
The accomplishment has only been accomplished by Mohammed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor.
Last season, Awoniyi finished as Forest top scorer with 10 goals for them to escape relegation.
