Ayo Makun, better known by his stage as Comedian AY, has responded to the national honor that Muhammadu Buhari, the previous president, gave him.
The comedic actor shared his pleasure about the honor on his Instagram page on Monday, writing, “I’m indeed happy to be listed amongst individuals adding value to the country in all spheres of human endeavor.”
He revealed receiving the MFR cadre, which stands for Member of the Order of the Federal Republic.
In response to those who had urged him to decline the honor, AY stated that he will not do so since it is “clearly a national honor” and the country is “bigger and more important than any president or political party” who is bestowing it.
He said, “My allegiance is to a country where I have contributed my own quota, and I am more than happy to be rewarded by the same nation.”
Jaknow remembers that on Sunday, May 28, 2023, the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs released the names of 339 notable Nigerians who would be receiving national honors in 2023.
Among the performers that made the list were well-known musician Davido and talented filmmaker Kunle Afolayan.
