Daniel Bameyi, captain of the Flying Eagles, has stated that his squad is not afraid of Italy, whom they will face next in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
In their first match, the Young Azzurri defeated five-time champions Brazil 3-2.
The Flying Eagles also got off to a winning start, coming from behind to overcome debutants Dominican Republic 2-1.
Bameyi admits the Italians will be difficult to overcome, but he is convinced his squad will triumph.
“Our next opponent defeated Brazil, and we were able to witness the first half.”
“Any side that can beat Brazil would not be an easy team,” the defender told NFF TV. “But we are Nigerians and we are not afraid of anyone, and we know every team is beatable no matter how you play.”
On Wednesday, the Flying Eagles will face Italy at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza.
The game will begin at 7 p.m. Nigerian time.
