The Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, or fuel pump price has recently increased, prompting the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, or COSEYL, to call for a national protest.
The request came in response to the sudden hike in petrol prices from N537 to N620 in Abuja and other regions of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement released on Wednesday, COSEYL President General Goodluck Ibem referred to the move as “wickedness from the authorities” and cited the suffering that Nigerians are now experiencing as a result of the loss of gasoline subsidies.
While Nigerians are “still battling with hardship to settle with the previous price of N520, President Tinubu increased the same price of fuel to N617 within 2 months in office,” as it is in certain states, the organization bemoaned.
All Nigerians were urged to “come out en masse for a protest against this evil and wickedness brought upon Nigerians by the present government,” especially the youth. In their own nation, Nigerians are unable to breathe.
“Now is the moment to free Nigeria from her oppressors. Until the fuel price is returned to its previous level of N198 per litre, we must demonstrate on the streets of all 36 of Nigeria’s states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.
