The Vice President spoke at a farewell dinner that was hosted in his honor by OVP personnel, according to a statement from Osinbajo Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande.

Osinbajo claimed that in the previous eight years, he and President Muhammadu Buhari both wanted to improve Nigeria, which is why they selected people with similar goals.

“I’m honored to have worked with such incredible people; everyone put in exceptional hard work,” the vice president was reported as saying. Most of you who worked with me were subjected to personal interviews.I was looking for folks that truly loved and cared about our country and its development.

“I must admit, eight years have passed by very rapidly. A few days out from the inauguration, here we are. I’m delighted we’ve gone this far because there have been a lot of wonderful events and things that have transpired.

In the previous eight years, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, and President Muhammadu Buhari have both expressed a desire to improve Nigeria. As a result, they have intentionally engaged individuals who share this objective.
This was said by Prof. Osinbajo last evening during remarks at a farewell luncheon hosted in his honor by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) employees.

Her Excellency Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, the vice president’s wife and “my most potent weapon,” joined him to the event.

“I’m honored to have worked with such incredible people; everyone put in exceptional hard work,” the vice president said during the occasion. I personally interviewed the majority of you who were my coworkers. I was looking for folks that truly loved and cared about our country and its development.

“I must admit, eight years have passed by very rapidly. A few days out from the inauguration, here we are. I’m delighted we’ve gone this far because there have been a lot of wonderful events and things that have transpired.

Prof. Osinbajo praised the OVP staff for their commitment and patriotism while also highlighting the selfless service of his police and security detail, civil servants, his chief of staff, special advisers, senior special assistants, and special assistants, among others. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone for their support over the course of the eight-year Buhari Administration.

In addition to presents, he received handwritten farewell letters from staff members at the dinner event.

Prof. Osinbajo used the outstanding work of the OVP personnel as an illustration, saying that “Maryam Uwais comes to mind when we talk about the Social Investment Programmes. There is no doubt about that because she was in control at the time and was responsible for its success, he added.

The vice president also praised the deputy chief of staff, Mr. Ade Ipaye, who served as Lagos State’s attorney general and commissioner for justice from 2011 to 2015, for his fidelity, commitment, and outstanding performance.

Prof. Osinbajo further mentioned that despite the difficulties, Nigeria’s story is one of optimism, fortitude, successes, and the extraordinary abilities and potential of its people for a brighter future.

The Vice President noted that the nation has the capacity to lead the globe in a variety of industries, saying that “the story of our country is a story of incredible talents, everywhere you turn, you will find talents.”

He acknowledged that there are certain conflicts and difficulties, but he added, “We must not give up. No matter what the situation or obstacle, we must not give up or become disheartened. Because of how valuable our country is and how talented its citizens are, we can truly bless the entire globe.

The vice president expressed gratitude for God’s protection over him and the 11 people he was with during the chopper accident in Kogi State on February 2, 2019. Additionally, he remembered a same forced helicopter landing at Gwagwalada in June 2018. A few seconds after takeoff, the helicopter carrying him and members of his “Main Party” from the Nigerian Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, made a violent landing.

The VP remarked, “I’m really grateful to the Almighty God.

The Vice President’s wife spoke before the VP and thanked everyone for their support of the Vice President’s work during the course of the government.

She cherished, radiating big grins, “Thank you for commemorating him tonight.

The second and final term of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which has lasted eight years, will come to a close on Monday, May 29, when the new administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima will be sworn in.

The new vice president was welcomed by Prof. Osinbajo earlier on Thursday and given a tour of the Vice-Presidential wing of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

The Vice President paid a goodbye visit to each of the staff members’ offices earlier on yesterday afternoon when he was at the Presidential Villa. In the last eight years of the Buhari Administration, he visited door to door on both the ground and upper levels, expressing gratitude to both political appointees and civil workers for their commitment and support.

The Abuja International Choir provided musical entertainment, while Tamara Dogubo performed a spoken word piece at the dinner event, which also included a few MDAs and personnel from the Vice President’s Office. As the country’s number two and President Muhammadu Buhari’s deputy, they all praised the Vice President for his outstanding and selfless service to the country.

Ade Ipaye, DCOS, Maryam Uwais, a special adviser to the president on social investments, Janet Olisa, a former ambassador of Nigeria to Jamaica, Chiedu Ugbo, the managing director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), and Babatunde Irukera, executive vice-chairman and chief executive officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, were among those who spoke.

Speaking on behalf of the OVP personnel, DCOS Ipaye emphasized the meticulousness of the VP’s preparation and organization. He claims that “despite His Excellency’s inquiring intellect, diligent nature, and rigorous planning mode, no matter how little the operation we wish to conduct at the workplace, or even at home, His Excellency believes in comprehensive planning.

Nothing is taken for granted, and each step of the path requires examination.

Mrs. Uwais praised the VP’s moral character, skill, and competency in her own remarks. A similar surprise gift was later given to DCOS Ipaye by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity in the Office of the Vice President.

Similar to this, the Managing Director of the NDPHC, Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, stated that the VP “taught and made the law of evidence, a difficult area, very easy” while he was a Professor of Law at the University of Lagos. You continue to serve as my moral compass. You have God’s speed, I say.

Additionally, Mr. Irukera stated in his statements on behalf of other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of Government, “My other designation for him (Prof. Osinbajo) is the ‘captain and the master of the salvage crew.’ He demonstrated to us the power of public service as a platform for significant good deeds and effect. Sir, may your clan grow in this nation. You are appreciated by the populace and the country. You’ve inflicted several heartfelt wounds on individuals.

A Director at the OVP named Mrs. Tukubo Edubio, who attended the occasion with a group of top civil employees from State House, spoke on behalf of the Civil employees.

The occasion also featured a brief film clip that featured images and footage of the Vice President’s most memorable moments from the previous four years. Tolani Alli, the Vice President’s personal photographer and Special Assistant on Visual Communications, assembled it.

In addition to the current and former employees of the Office of the Vice President, other dignitaries attended the event, including Dr. Sani Aliyu, a member of the Presidential Health Reform Committee, and Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali, a former minister of defense and current executive vice chairman of NASENI.
