Mercy Chinwo, a Nigerian gospel superstar, won the 2023 Best International Act Award at the Premier Gospel Awards in the United Kingdom.
The Premier Gospel Awards, which took place on Friday in Chelsea, London’s illustrious Cadogan Hall, effectively commemorated 50 years of gospel music in the UK.

Chinwo, whose husband is Blessed Uzochikwa, the senior pastor of The Waterbrook Church in Lekki, Lagos, expressed her joy at receiving the Award in an Instagram post in which she tagged the organizers.
“Thanks for the honor, @premiergospel,” she wrote. Thank you to everyone who cast a ballot. Godspeed to you all.

Nine award categories representing diverse facets of the best in gospel music were recognized by the Award. According to the organizers, the winners in each category showcase the extraordinary skill and commitment that have formed UK gospel music.

Besides Limoblaze (best male vocalist), Annatoria (best female vocalist), Jireh (best song: Limoblaze), Manor Collective (best group), Choir of the Year (The Spirituals), Tofunmi Adorna (best newcomer), Triple O’s Everything Left Unsaid (best album), and Guvna B’s Bridgeland Road (best video), Chinwo was also recognized as a winner.
A night of celebration and gratitude took place at the Premier Gospel Awards, which was a spectacular success and brought the gospel music community together.
