After the national grid system, which is run by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) out of Osogbo in Osun State, crashed, Nigeria was once again plunged into darkness Nigeria’s Energy Infrastructure Falls Again, Causing A Nationwide Blackout
The grid collapsed to a pitiful 273 megawatts of power today, according to a check by The Guardian in the early hours. This electricity came from two of the more than 27 electrical production facilities.
This occurred just one week after TCN celebrated a dubious 400 days of grid stability by rolling out the drum.
The Guardian received confirmation from a number of Distribution Companies that the grid fell down around 00:41 AM and that the majority of their feeds are not working.
On the grid as of 4:00 a.m. on Thursday were five producing units. Ibom Power had 32.90MW, Afam VI had 0.70MW, Dadinkowa was producing 0.00MW, Jebba had 240MW, and Olorunsogo had no generation at all but was connected to the grid.
The entire power available on the system at 1 AM was 35 MW, suggesting that the nation had completely collapsed.
At around 3 AM, the grid reached 193 MW before increasing to 273 MW when this report was sent.
