President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been warned by Northern senators in the 10th National Assembly not to use military intervention to resolve the conflict in Niger.

This was revealed in a statement released on Friday by Sen. Suleiman Sumaila, the representative for the Northern Senators Forum.

The group of senators encouraged the president to use diplomatic and political strategies to bring back democracy in Niger.
Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Jigawa, Yobe, and Borno will also be impacted by military action in Niger, according to NSF.

“Political and diplomatic efforts should, however, be prioritized in order to bring back a democratic administration in the Niger Republic.

“We oppose the use of military force before all other options have been explored, as doing so will result in casualties among law-abiding civilians going about their everyday lives. Additionally, about seven northern states—namely, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Jigawa, Yobe, and Borno—with a border with the Niger Republic would suffer.

The Niger military junta cut diplomatic ties with Nigeria, as DAILY POST recalls, when the ECOWAS ambassador sent there to mediate peace failed to do so.

Mohamed Bazoum, the democratically elected president of Niger, was deposed by a military coup last month.

The West African area is still experiencing increasing tension.
